Turkey is the largest producer and exporter of hazelnuts in the world.
The 2015-2016 season began on the 1st of September 2015 to the 30th of August 2016, it registered 2.200 million USD of export sales. The average price of 100 kilograms of standard natural kernels hazelnut was 817 USD.
About 200 000 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported to the countries of the European Union, 16 000 tonnes to European countries outside the EU, 30 000 tonnes to overseas countries and more than 12 000 tonnes to other countries in the world.
In 2014-2015, for the same period, 217,427 tonnes were exported for an export figure of 2.800 million USD. But the conditions of the international market had actually increased the price being 100 kilograms of hazelnuts at 1300 USD.
